  • Do I need a lawyer if my claim was already approved?

This might be a dumb question but I honestly don't know the answer and I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance. I got hurt at work about two months ago, a pretty bad burn on my arm from some hot equipment, and I filed my claim and it got approved pretty quickly. I've been getting my weekly checks and the insurance company has been paying for my medical stuff, so everything seems fine on the surface. But I keep hearing horror stories from people about how the insurance company was nice at first and then later on started denying things or cutting off benefits when they thought you were getting better. My cousin is telling me I should get a lawyer now before anything goes wrong, but I feel like if my claim is already approved and things are going smoothly, why would I need to pay someone to do nothing? At the same time, I don't want to be naive and think everything will stay smooth forever. I've been looking at workers comp claim help Rosendale NY and it seems like a lot of people do get lawyers even when their claim is already approved, but I'm not sure if that's just a money grab or if there's a real reason to do it. For those of you who had your claim approved early on, did you get a lawyer right away or did you wait until something went wrong? I'm trying to figure out if I'm being smart or just being cheap by waiting. Any advice would be really helpful because I don't want to make a mistake I'll regret later.
