In 1778, a teenager named Samuel Reed helped the rebels by carrying secret maps hidden in his boot. He looked like any other blacksmith’s son, but he took big risks to help win the war. One rainy night, Samuel left on a mission and never came home. Years later, someone found his letters tucked behind a brick in the old forge. His story touched historical fiction author Douglas A.
